As Catholics, we can sometimes find ourselves overwhelmed by the “rules” that accompany our faith. We stand in a strange situation as regards the “law”; hence the endless jokes in Catholic circles about “Catholic guilt.” The truth is that the law is necessary, but it is not sufficient. Without love, the law is useless. Our Lord, in his life, gives us a perfect picture of how to integrate love and law.
