About the event
R. J. Snell, Ph.D., is director of academic programs and editor-in-chief of Public Discourse for the Witherspoon Institute in Princeton, NJ.
Ours is a society that does not know how to rest. More than a sheer demand for productivity, however, we are dominated by the need to achieve, to accomplish, to prove our worth. But we’re also not sure what that means or when we’ve attained that end, so we work, and work, and work to prove to ourselves we aren’t losers. The end result, at least according to Byung-Chul Han, is depression and burnout. In this talk we’ll explore burnout society and what we can do to find leisure and happiness despite its grasp.
